Alberta Rural Entrepreneur Stream score
The Rural Entrepreneur Stream is for people who will own and run a business in a rural Alberta community of fewer than 100,000 people, outside the Calgary and Edmonton metropolitan areas. Candidates are ranked out of 175 points.
This calculator follows the points grid published by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. Several factors are also threshold requirements: at least $100,000 invested, $300,000 in personal net worth, three years as an owner-manager or four as a senior manager, CLB 4 in all four abilities, and a high school education assessed against Canadian standards. Fall below any one of them and the stream is closed, whatever the total comes to, so the calculator flags those answers separately.
Two further requirements carry no points but cannot be skipped: a community support letter from a participating rural community, and an exploratory visit with a report filed alongside the business application.
